Preparation, Characterization, Release and Antibacterial Properties of Cinnamon Essential Oil Microcapsules

In this study, the antibacterial microcapsules of cinnamon essential oil (CEO) were prepared by complex condensation method. Chitosan quaternary ammonium salt (HACC) combined with gum arabic (GA) was selected as coated wall material. The optimal preparation conditions CEO (CMSs) determined response surface methodology (RSM): core/wall mass ratio 1:1, pH value 4.5, concentration CaCl2 0.7 wt% and actual encapsulation rate 90.72% ± 1.89%. morphology, size, composition thermal stability CMSs characterized scanning electron microscopy (SEM), laser particle size analysis (LPDA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric differential (TG–DTA) calorimetry (DSC). addition, in vitro drug release properties CMS also evaluated. results showed that spherical, an average 6.31 µm. obvious weight loss occurred at 269 °C corresponding DSC curve had exothermic peak 265.5 °C, which increase compared CEO. Microcapsules can achieve slow release, lowest highest rates being 19.66% 49.79%, within 30 days. consistent a first-order model named ExpDec1. Based on above research results, effectively improve oil, prolong effect, indicating its potential applications food, cosmetics medicine.
